On to Calgary....

East of Golden... the mountains look so amazing!

 New bridge east of Golden.
Tried to get a picture of the rapids
Slowed down for this road construction, did not need to stop.
 More amazing mountains...
 Rest stop and lunch...
Another angle of the same spot, as above. There is a great grassy area for walking Suki - which she really enjoyed.
Tonight's campground - Calgary West, just off Highway 1, nice place, great view.

Finding a campground with an available spot was a challenge, being the first long weekend with school out for the summer, Spruce Meadows and next weekend Calgary Stampede commences. William and Kate will be in attendance for the Stampede Parade, in fact they precede it... all in all, it is very busy here!

The spot we are parked in is only available tonight... so down to the office tomorrow morning around 9ish to see if anything else is available. We would like to stay a couple more days and take in some of the festivities.

Today's drive was uneventful and mostly sunny. Saw herd of elk near Bow River and a couple of deer in a field near Canmore.

Weather forecast on Global TV Calgary... could have a thunder storm overnight. Back to sun tomorrow and even warmer on Saturday!

June 29, 2011: Golden, BC

Whispering Pines Campground, Golden, BC. Can you locate our rig?
Pulled in around 2:30 pm. Had a nice relaxed afternoon, BBQ steak, baked potatoes, salad for dinner. Sat outside until the mosquitos drove us inside.

It's Wednesday

We are now in Golden. Had planned on going to northern Alberta, to Becky's home town, but the route we had originally planned to drive is flooded.
This is the link to some pictures of the area and highway...

The drive today has been uneventful. Mostly sunhine, with a smattering of rain. No road improvement delays.

Finally on the Road

After a much deserved rest on Monday, so Phil could go golfing with Neil and Phil Jr., we hit the road and begin our journey to Ontario.

East of Chilliwack this truck passed us.. Milk to go, flavoured... chocolate, strawberry, banana (?), vanilla and orange (orange... don't think I'll go there!)

Had to take a picture of the Mighty Fraser River... So high for this time of year!

Containers Leaving

The containers are ready for pickup thanks to the assistance of Neil, Chris, Carol, Phil Jr., Jon, and Rick.  In photo: Phil, Carol (Phil's sister) and driver.

Containers hooked up and just turning out the driveway....

Around the corner and heading for the road. Let the journey begin...

Move to Date

The containers for the move to Ontario arrived on June 24th @ approximately 3:30pm, found out the pickup date was moved from Monday morning to Sunday afternoon.
Let the packing begin...
